Q9: Does my dog need annual booster shots or is a Rabies shot enough?
A9: All dogs must have their yearly booster shots for Distemper, Parvo- Virus and Bordatella (Kennel Cough) . This not only protects them from infected dogs, but did you know that Parvo-Virus the most lethal virus that kills so many puppies and unprotected dogs every year can remain in the ground for up to 1 year? You take your unprotected puppy or dog to the park and your pet could pick up the virus and take it home with him and can infect and kill not only him but any unprotected dog or puppy he comes in contact with.
Bordatella or Kennel cough is a highly contagious, air-born virus that can infect an entire kennel or grooming shop and remain active until the entire facility is scrubbed down, walls, ceilings and floors with bleach or a disinfectant that will kill the virus.
A couple of shots a year keeps your dog protected all year long. Please keep your dog vaccinated yearly!
